Maintenance and Modernization

Electric Boat employees are regularly engaged in the maintenance, modernization and life-cycle support of U.S. Navy submarines at various locations across the country.

At the naval submarine base in Groton, Connecticut, Electric Boat operates the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department and the floating dry dock Shippingport, while supporting waterfront repair activities.

The company also maintains permanent maintenance repair facilities in Kings Bay, Georgia, Bremerton, Washington and Honolulu, Hawaii to support submarine modernization.

Additionally, the company has supported maintenance or repair activity in Europe and Guam in recent years, and has provided submarine assistance to the navies of the United Kingdom, Australia and Spain.
